The following shall be admitted duty-free in connection with imports of personal property:

• Keyrings;
• the study requirement;
• used movable objects constituting the normal furnishings of a student room and intended for its personal use during the course of studies.

Special case of vehicles:
A vehicle may be imported under a duty and tax suspension arrangement under the temporary admission procedure if it is registered in a normal series of the third country of provenance. The mere crossing of the border shall constitute a customs declaration for placing under the temporary admission procedure.
The student will be able to use this vehicle for the duration of his studies in France. He must be able to produce at any time, at the customs service, the proof of his enrollment in the French institution in which he continues his schooling.

You must provide customs with the following documents:

• a certificate of education;
• a detailed, estimated, dated and signed inventory (in 2 copies);
• the cerfa 10070 form for declaration of duty-free entry into France of personal property from third countries to the European Union, if you are importing goods containing valuable household effects and objects.

Customs will give you:

• a certified copy of the inventory;
• a card for the free movement of your personal property, if any, issued at your request.
