Role of French Customs: Protection, Public Service and Seizure Management
Customs services fight every day against all trafficking threatening our territory and our society, in order to protect citizens and the environment. They also contribute to the protection of our economy, the attractiveness of ports and airports and support French companies in their international operations.
As part of their duties, customs officers regularly carry out seizures of goods and goods at border controls and throughout the country. Most of the goods offered at the auctions come from these customs seizures and illustrate the plurality of tasks performed.
For example, some goods were seized at the border as a result of irregularities in their importation, while others were apprehended in the territory, including during investigations. The diversity of goods seized and then sold at auction reflects this commitment and the variety of public service missions carried out by French Customs.
